Before Jeff Click turned the gavel over to Todd Booze as president of the Oklahoma State Home Builders Association annual banquet Jan. 10, he delivered a very personal message about the value of membership.

During his tenure as president, the OSHBA demonstrated its value to its 2,400 members with several distinctive programs.

"One of the things that rang true with OSHBA leadership this year was the value of membership," he told the banquet audience of more than 100, including Gov. Mary Fallin, who gave the keynote speech. "People see the value for those who have been a member of our organization."

For example, the Certified Professional Builder Program helped bring down insurance costs and risk for those who are members of the program. And the Oklahoma Building Summit was a huge success in 2013 with a rebranding effort that brought large numbers to the summit.

"One of the things you've seen in the last half of the year and one that we will continue to push is what value could this association provide,'" Click said.

At age 38, Click was the youngest president in the history of the OSHBA, yet brought years of experience to the post.

He spoke highly of longtime member and OSHBA advocate Mark Dale, sending well-wishes to him from the entire audience via an on-the-spot video he recorded.

"I'm in my 15th year in business as a builder," he said. "It's humbling, but empowering, to be selected by your peers to lead."

He remains on the board, as outgoing president, and serves with newly installed vice president/secretary, Kurt Dinnes, president Booze and vice president/treasurer Phil Rhees.
