Todd Booze left no doubt as he took office as president of the Oklahoma State Home Builders Association on Jan. 10 that home builders are counting on Gov. Mary Fallin to stand up to intrusive federal regulation.

"We've come out of the Great Recession over the last few years and we know we are going to be challenged in the regulatory area, as issues flow down from the federal government to the state," said Booze in his remarks at the OSHBA annual banquet. "Regulation and burdensome codes and local regulations unnecessarily increase the prices of homes in Oklahoma.

I would like to congratulate Gov. Mary Fallin on her recent appointment to Chairman of the National Governors Association and commend her support in leading the fight against federal overreach, especially in areas related to EPA and storm water regulation.

Fallin was keynote speaker at the banquet, held at the Central Oklahoma Home Builders Event Center.

"Gov. Fallin is incredible for what she does for our state," Booze said. "For her to be voted as chairman of the governors association says a lot."

Booze also urged home builders to become involved in the process of amending building codes, sitting down with code officials and discussing the effects of proposed new codes.

Booze is a co-founder and president of construction with Ideal Homes. He is a long-time member of the OSHBA and served as vice president/treasurer in 2013, has been active at the national level and is former president of the Builders Association of South Central Oklahoma. He is also chair of the annual statewide Building Summit, this year in its sixth year.
