Green Building

Oklahoma Builders are in to

Green Building!

Members of the Oklahoma State Home Builders Association are very active in the green building movement. There are two valuable programs that our builders may participate in and many do both!

The first program is the Certified Green Professional program by the National Association of Home Builders. This program certifies the builder in the components of building green homes – from energy efficiency to lot placement. Many of our Certified Professional Builders have also achieved their CGP designation. Click here for a list of CGP designated Certified Professional Builders. By clicking on the link following you can see a list of all homebuilders that have achieved the Certified Green Professional designation.

Something of great value to our builders and their consumers is the National Green Building Standard (NGBS) and the Home Innovation Research Labs certification program. The National Green Building Standard is the only residential green building rating system approved by ANSI as an American National Standard. The certification by the Home Innovation Research Labs is the only way that the public can have confidence that a home is truly green. The Home Innovation Research Labs certifies buildings, not professionals. By clicking on the logo you can obtain more information and find homes that have been certified.

NGBS was developed through a partnership with the International Code Council. While many folks have heard of Energy Star, they should realize that Energy Star is an energy certification and not a green program. The NGBS is the only ANSI certified standard for building green.

The Oklahoma State Home Builders Association is proud to be an HBA Partner with the Home Innovation Research Labs.
